Water Damage Restoration Capitola: Beach Cottages and Winter Storms

The routine work here is what it is anywhere: failed supply lines, water heaters, appliance leaks. What Capitola adds is geometry. Cottages sit close together on small lots, so an ordinary loss in one property regularly becomes a loss in the one attached to it, and the documentation has to separate the two from the first hour.

The seasonal exposure is real but less frequent. Capitola Village occupies low ground where Soquel Creek reaches the sea, which makes it exposed from two directions at once: creek flooding from upstream rain, and coastal storm surge driven in from the beach. The January 2023 storms demonstrated both, and properties in the village took significant water.

The building stock compounds it. Many Capitola properties are small older cottages, some raised, many not, built close together on small lots with limited drainage between them. Water that reaches one property has nowhere useful to go, and a loss in one unit of a duplex or a close-packed row routinely becomes a loss in the next.

Salt air is the quiet part. Coastal properties carry accelerated corrosion on electrical connections, panels, and fixtures, and when saltwater or brackish flood water reaches that equipment, the corrosion does not stop when everything looks dry. That assessment is the part most restoration companies subcontract. It is the part we started from.
